Firstly, we would like to thank you for your work in fighting COVID-19 and for the support you have provided to all of our registrants, including those joining the workforce on a temporary basis, throughout the pandemic.
Regulating in the next phase
As restrictions begin to ease across the UK, we outline the steps we are taking to regulate in the next phase. This includes our approach to registration renewals, resuming CPD audits, and how we will continue to investigate fitness to practise concerns, including the listing of postponed and new hearings.
Temporary register(s)
We have also turned our attention to how we can best support the workforce demand and have published our approach to closing the COVID-19 temporary register(s).
This confirms that the student temporary register will close on 30 September 2020, with temporary registration of former registrants continuing for the time being. This decision has been informed by our survey and in consultation with key stakeholders.
If you employ temporary registered students
If you currently employ any of our temporary registered students, please encourage them to register as soon as they are able to.
As student temporary registration will end on 30 September 2020, you should not have any students employed in regulated roles beyond that date. Steps should be taken now to help them transition back in to education or to Register.
Former registrants
We are encouraging former registrants to apply for readmission to the Register.
