Education and Training panels review visitors' reports on approval and monitoring of education and training programmes. Panel members are drawn from the Education and Training Committee.
Council created two sub-committees to deal with specific policy and procedural issues around registrations and approvals. The work of these committees has returned to the Education and Training Committee.
Decisions on institution and programme approval and ongoing approval are made by the Education and Training Committee (Panel) as follows:
- Decisions are made at different governance levels ('tiers') based on the routineness and impact of the decision
- Meetings are reserved only for items which require discussion, and we prefer virtual meetings
- A monthly 'papers-based' approval route is available meaning the Committee or Panel is not required for certain pre-defined decisions, and instead two members confirm or reject these decisions by correspondence
