Professional bodies typically promote the profession, represent their members and provide curriculum frameworks, training and CPD.

Whilst these organisations are separate from the HCPC, their role may be complementary to ours.

Professional bodies for art therapists include:

British Association of Dramatherapists (BADth)

The British Association of Dramatherapists is the representational body for dramatherapists in the UK.

Benefits to membership include inclusion in the Find a Therapist page of BADth, e-bulletins with dramatherapy news, updates and jobs, access to BADth's subcommittees and private Facebook forum for networking, support and resources, reduced rates at CPD training and conferences, reduced cost insurance and more.

British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT)

BAMT is the professional body for Music Therapy in the UK.

They work to support practitioners at all stages of their career providing access to continuing professional development and increasing awareness and education about Music Therapy.

They seek to increase accessibility to Music Therapy for all through advocacy and lobbying for the profession in the healthcare, social care and education sectors across all of the devolved areas of the UK.

British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT)

The British Association of Art Therapists are the professional membership organisation for art therapists in the UK.

They work to promote art therapy and provide professional support and advice to our members. They represent art therapy to commissioners, policy-makers and opinion-formers and work to ensure that the wider public understands what art therapy is and how it can help transform lives.
