What happens at this stage of the process?

When our assessors have concluded their assessment of your application, they will recommend an outcome. This is the ‘first decision’.

The decision can be:

  • Successful - you are accepted for entry to the Register
  • Test of competence - you are required to take a test to inform our decision
  • Unsuccessful - you are refused entry to the Register

You'll receive an update via email with the first decision. Our email will include a copy of your Record of Assessment which gives an explanation about the decision.

What happens next?

The next steps available to you depend on your outcome.

If your application is successful, we'll send you an email with this decision and a requestot pay your registration fee.

If you're required to take a test of competence, it means our assessment cannot determine whether you meet all the standards for your profession.

The test provides you with the opportunity to show you can meet them. It is delivered as a structured discussion with two assessors.

We'll email you to schedule the test and what you'll be required to do. We'll try to schedule the test at a time that is mutually convenient for you and the assessors.
