Launching the Corporate Plan: Realising HCPC’s ambitions in 2021

01 Ebr 2021

HCPC has published its Corporate Plan for 2021-22

The plan sets clear and deliverable objectives for the next year. It is the next important step in achieving the ambitions outlined in the Corporate Strategy and provides a detailed roadmap to drive our improvement journey.

Each year, HCPC will set out a new Corporate Plan, benchmarking our progress and setting out the milestones for how we will achieve our overall vision:

To be a high performing, adaptable and caring regulator that ensures public protection through strong, evidence-based regulation.

John Barwick, Chief Executive and Registrar at HCPC says:

“Our Corporate Plan marks an important step in realising the goals set out in our first ever Corporate Strategy. The Strategy marked an ambitious new direction for HCPC and so it is important that we have a clear, actionable plan to help us get there.”
“Like the Strategy, this plan reflects feedback from registrants, partners and professional bodies, and other key stakeholders on what they would like HCPC to deliver for them and for patients and service users. I’d like to thank all those who have worked with us to deliver this important initiative. We will continue to engage with you over the next five years to ensure we achieve our goals.”

This year’s Corporate Plan focuses on consolidating and embedding the progress made by HCPC over the past year.

Key elements include:

  • fast-tracking improvements to core regulatory functions, in particular in Fitness to Practise;
  • reaching out to registrants and key stakeholders through improved communication and collaboration; and
  • using our data and learnings to enable HCPC to achieve longer-term strategic objectives.

John Barwick adds:

“We must lock in the lessons that we have learned over the past year and challenge ourselves about how we work, to further develop our organisational agility and collaborative approach. The Corporate Plan is another important step in helping us to achieve this goal. We of course remain alert to the continuing effects of the pandemic on the healthcare system, its users, our registrants and our employees, and we will flex our priorities to meet the challenges that it poses.”

The Corporate Plan was approved by Council on the 23rd March and you can read the full version here:
