Council welcomes three new members

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebekah Eglinton, Steven Vaughan, and Professor Valerie Webster to the Council.

Rebekah Eglinton is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in child protection and psychological impacts of trauma. Rebekah has nearly 20 years experience in mental health settings and public protection, working across a range of service contexts. She is currently the Chief Psychologist to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse and Head of the Inquiry’s Support and Safeguarding Teams.

Steven Vaughan is Vice Dean of UCL’s Faculty of Laws where he holds the Chair in Law and Professional Ethics. A regulatory and governance specialist, his research covers a wide range of areas, from environmental law to diversity to legal education to lawyers' ethics and professionalism.

Professor Valerie Webster is a registered Physiotherapist and Fellow of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. She has over 28 years experience in higher education and recently retired as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Learning, Teaching and Student Experience) at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Christine Elliott, Council Chair HCPC, commented:

“Rebekah's, Steven's and Valerie's expertise in a variety of fields will help guide the HCPC towards our goal of providing intelligent, quality healthcare regulation. They will be joining a Council that is motivated, inclusive and energetic in its quest for excellent regulation and that is an exciting prospect for us all.”
