In early 2017, the HCPC commenced a review of the Indicative Sanctions Policy to ensure it is up to date, reflects public opinion, and continues to support fair and proportionate decision making. We regulate hearing aid dispensers on the basis of their professional title and also their protected function.

In 2019, we commissioned the University of Surrey to produce a film evidencing the process and benefits of Schwartz rounds.

We required that all education providers embedded our revised standards of proficiency (SOPs) from September 2023. We have assessed education provider alignment with the SOPs, and have considered common practices and challenges with this alignment.
