We’re looking to understand how future changes might affect our work, and the work of those we regulate. We're running a workshop open to the general public and our stakeholders this September.

We emailed education providers due their performance review in 2023-24 in late June. Providers who will undergo the process this year (2023-24) will have been given specific requirements and a key contact to work with at the HCPC.

As we enter the final year of our current Corporate Strategy, the HCPC is looking to recruit four new members of our Council: one registrant member and up to three lay members.

We are hosting six new #myHCPCstandards webinars designed to support registrants with the revisions to the standards of conduct, performance and ethics and accompanying social media guidance.

The revised standards of conduct, performance and ethics and revised guidance on social media are coming into effect on 1 September 2024. We encourage all registrants to ensure they are familiar with the changes.

For those who practised as part of the COVID-19 recovery, our returning to practice processes will take into account any impact this may have had on the wider healthcare workforce.

Case study: An occupational therapist's employer raised concerns with us after the registrant left a notepad containing confidential information, pertaining to a number of service users, at the home address of a service user.

While we are not responsible for providing funding or direct financial support for the education providers or programmes we approve, we are keen to provide clarity and guidance where we can.

We think that it’s important to further clarify within the standards that registrants do not need to stop practising simply because they have a physical or mental health condition.
