What you need to do for annual monitoring 2019–20

30 Sep 2019

We will be commencing with annual monitoring in the coming weeks.

If you need to send us documentation this academic year, we will soon be in touch with more detail.

Due to the planned transfer to Social Work England (SWE) in December 2019, programmes for social workers in England and approved mental health professional do not need to participate in annual monitoring this year.

Meeting our revised education standards

In September 2018 we started to assess all approved programmes, through our annual monitoring process, to make sure they continue to meet our revised standards of education and training (SETs).

We have compiled case studies to help you understand what the changes mean for your programmes.

Evidencing practice-based learning and service user and carer involvement

This year we are also asking you to provide extra evidence in your audit to show how your programme has monitored practice-based learning and the involvement of service users and carers. We need to see this evidence for both the 2017–18 and 2018–19 academic years.

The additional evidence needs to demonstrate

  • that you have sufficient placement capacity for learners;
  • how you have involved service users and carers in the programme and
  • how effective the involvement of service users and carers has been.

We also need feedback from relevant programme stakeholders relating to these areas, and how you have used this to make improvements.

Further information

The following video is from the Annual Monitoring webinar on Tuesday 15 October 2019. This provides further information about the revised standards of education and training, the expanded evidence base and how to complete your audit / mapping documentation for the 201920 academic year.

The following outlines the questions received during the webinar on Tuesday 15 October 2019. As we were unable to answer all the questions at the time, answers to the all the questions received are provided within this document.
