Outcome of your international application assessment

What happens at this stage of the process?

Our assessors conclude their assessment of your application by recommending that you are:

  • accepted for entry to the Register; or
  • required to complete a test of competence; or
  • refused for entry to the Register.

You'll receive an update from us when we're ready to share our findings on your application.

How long does this part of the process take?

At the moment we have a higher than usual number of applications at this stage.

How long it takes to reach a final outcome from the assessment of your application depends on whether we need to receive further information from you.

What happens next?

The next steps available to you depend on your outcome.

If your application is successful, we'll send you an email with this decision and a request to pay your registration fee.

Registration fee payments are made through the HCPC online account. You'll receive a link to do this via email. You'll need to pay in full online, using a credit or debit card.

Once we have received your payment you will receive an email confirming that your registration has been successful and including your new registration number.

Please allow up to three days for your payment to reach our account – payment processing speeds can differ depending on your bank.

Our assessment shows that there are some standards that haven't been met. You're provided with the opportunity to meet these through a test which is usually delivered in the form of a structured interview with the assessors.

We'll email you to schedule this test and also give more detail about what you will be required to do. We'll look to schedule the test at a time that is convenient for you and the assessors.

We'll send you an email with the reason for this decision and give you information about our appeals process should you wish to appeal this decision.

You'll have 28 days to make your appeal.
